Denying Science, An Open Letter To Theists
Dear Theists,
If due to your beliefs you feel it is prudent to reject scientific claims, whether it be about the formation of the universe, evolution or the age of the earth, I respectfully request that you abstain from using any of the benefits of scientific discovery, this includes:
1. Your house, designed using physics and mathematics, built using machine produced materials and tools.
2. Your car- built by robots, petrol obtained through drilling and distillation, powered by an engine designed using scientific principles.
3. Modern medicine - yup, those wonderful products of the scientific method are no longer for you.
4. Home luxuries - computer, TV, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and everything else in your home all mass produced as a result of scientific research and machinery.
5. Flight - plan on going abroad, hope you don’t plan to fly (or travel by boat or road).
6. Your bible - you thought printing presses were Jesus powered?
So if you wish to deny select findings of science just to suit your personal beliefs you should basically go and live in a cave in the wilderness. If you do not do this you are essentially admitting that the scientific method works, that science does not just make shit up, if it did these items you depend upon would not work. Science does not pick and choose what is real, it strives to discover the truth regardless of personal opinion, surely this is superior to avoiding reality just because you don’t like it.
Sincerely
The Yorkshire Atheist
